Throw an End of Season Pool Party

Share this article:

The swimming pool season is quickly coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a last-minute blowout with friends and family. Celebrate some of the last warm days of the year with a party to commemorate all of the great times you’ve had in your pool. Here are some fun ideas for your end-season pool party that you can use to make the most of your swimming pool.

Make It a Back to School Party

The end of summer also represents the beginning of another school year. Send your kids off in style with a big back to school party for their classmates. If you don’t have time to do that before school starts, do it in the first couple weeks of school. Of course, you will need to plan for this on a weekend so you do not interrupt the get-up-early-for-school schedule.  This is a great way to get to know the kids your children will be hanging out with, and it gives you a chance to interact with other parents. Form a strong support system, all while having a great time in your pool.

Celebrate with the Whole Neighborhood

If you live in a neighborhood that feels like a family, you could invite everyone over for a big pool party. This is a great way to welcome new families to the area as well, if you have someone move into the neighborhood. Play pool games that act as icebreakers so you can get to know people better. Turn it into a pot-luck barbecue and ask all of your neighbors to bring something for people to eat or drink. You can discuss this at a home owner’s association meeting so everyone gets on board with the pool party.

Plan Fall or Winter Inspired Games

If you want to pay tribute to the upcoming seasons, you could use them as inspiration for your games and activities. If you have a sandbox in your yard, you could have a sand-snowman building competition. You could also get foam balls to throw a “snowball fight” in the pool. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box for your pool farewell party, even if it means tapping into other seasons in the year.

Make Something out of Pool Toys

If you plan on throwing away some of your pool toys, use them for a fun new purpose. For instance, you may use pool noodles to make hats and clothes people can wear around the pool. You may chop them up with a wood shipper and shoot them in the air like confetti. Put all your inflatable toys in a pile and let people jump on them like an air mattress. Whatever the case may be, you can find a last-minute way to use the toys you plan on tossing anyways.

Enjoy Quality Time with Your Family

When the hustle and bustle settles, you may want to spend the last official night in the pool with just your spouse and your children. Make this a special moment none of you will ever forget, and start dreaming about what you can do next pool season.
